In a whole-class setting, instruction should blend direct teaching with hands-on activities and varied instructional modalities to cater to all learning styles. Clear, detailed instructions with visual aids are essential to guide learners. This environment should foster critical thinking and encourage cooperative exploration. Technology can play a key role in enhancing the overall learning experience.

Field-dependent learners should be paired with field-independent learners in paired learning or peer tutoring to create supportive partnerships. These pairs can work together on class projects, with the more independent learner guiding the dependent one. This collaborative approach allows for peer questioning and answers, helping the dependent learner build confidence and transition toward greater independence.

Small-group instruction should progress from simple to complex tasks. Students can assume different roles, promoting cooperative learning and guided inquiry. These groups can engage in role-play and structured discussions, with staff support gradually reducing as they move toward independence.

In one-on-one learning sessions, focus on tailored, individualized instruction to meet each student's unique needs. This setting offers more opportunities for specific feedback, aiding field-dependent learners in gaining independence. With more targeted skill-building activities and focused attention, these learners can build confidence, take more risks in their learning, and become less reliant on staff support as they progress toward field independence.
