It is important to build this student socially because students work better in an environment they are comfortable in. Based on my observations, once a student is comfortable in the environment, they are encouraged to participate, engage, learn the vocabulary, and work with their peers. Mastery of vocabulary is important but it will not occur if the student is not willing to participate.
