Research-based grouping approaches I would choose are heterogeneous groups, cooperative social roles, & small groups.

Pedagogical theories I will embrace for small groups are more openness on the part of the student & more learning takes place. If student needs to be retaught something, it happens comfortably & productively in a small group setting.

In heterogeneous groups, students come together with mixed abilities, mixed ethnically, low to high achieving, and improved social & academic skills.  Students will learn from each other at their own pace.

Cooperative social roles are instrumental because of the positive student-teacher interactions & the gains that are made.
