Scenario Response 2
Scenario Response 2
One intervention approach that I think is beneficial to this student is daily reading opportunities. I do this one currently in my classroom with all of my students. The student should be allowed to chose their own independent book (at their current level) and read everyday. I think this will help the student be more confident and engaged with their reading and will help them get used to the words on the page. I have my students pick their own book and they will read for 15 minutes every morning. This is silent and independent, but there can be time for sharing or reading aloud. They sometimes have worksheets they can fill out about their reading to help with comprehension. Another intervention that may be helpful to this student is providing clarification with resources provided to the student. they can be given a scaffolded worksheet or an accommodation to help them achieve the lesson. I also try to provide them with the text in their native language (at least at first and then I slowly transition to only English as they improve) and in English so they can look at both. They are allowed to ask questions whenever they need to ensure they are able to follow along.
