Mod 2 Discussion: What the Research Means to Me
What the Research Means to Me
I think it is very important that ELLs are able to learn in the environment they are put in. If they are to be put into a general English speaking classroom, then there should be accommodations in place so that they can learn in there as well. The outcomes of adding accommodations are far more positive than not having them. If the ELL students are able to feel like they are part of the classroom, then they will be more confident in themselves and more intentional with their learning. Teachers that have ELL students in their classroom should be trained on how to best help them as they are their students too. Without the training, the students will just be there in name and not participating which is not fair to them. There needs to be a way for the teachers to know how to best help their students and then put it into action.
