Module 4 Discussion: Home Language Survey

I feel that the most important questions to ask my students' parents would be:

-Is there a language other than English spoken at home?

-What is the predominant language spoken in the home?

-What was the date of entry to the Unites States?

I feel that these questions would be most crucial for gauging the student's level of comprehension and if the family will need a translator in order to participate in parent-teacher conferences and other academic meetings.  I might modify the document to ask how much formal schooling the student completed in their home country if any. This might help in terms of assessing if the student might be more proficient in math or other subjects other than English.
