Mod 11 Discussion: Teaching Critical Literacy

I chose the Critical Thinking- Synthesizing application. The way it would be used in my classroom is selecting  "Gemini: The Twins" reading passage and making some changes. The passage talks about Gemini being two very bright stars in the sky. They've been in the sky for a long time. 

One of the questions I would ask is: How might you create your own stars in the sky?I would allow student to think about this and write about it. The Switching Strategy I would use is the "Setting Switch". The students would describe the story from a different time or place. I would ask: How would the plot change?  This would give students an opportunity to write the story from a different perspective.
