Mod 2 Discussion: What the Research Means to Me

1) The article mentioned that students should master their first language before engaging in another language. The article discussed that bilingual immersion classes paired with other classes can help students catch up on language learning before middle school. 

2) There is a shortage of ESOL teachers so all teachers must be equipped with training and other resources to better serve ELL students. 

3) All subjects (PE, ART, MUSIC) should aid ELL in learning English. This is why all teachers must have proper training for this population. 

4) The goal is for students to be able to communicate and understand English. Schools need to prioritize assisting ELL students and equipping teachers to help this population instead of focusing on the label of "ELL."
