Making simple rules and giving students chances to practice them can make a big difference in their learning. In the video, the example I would highlight is when she made a simple rule for the students to follow with the "ow" sound. This was a straightforward approach, which guides students for then they are reading on their own. Plus, the practice she built into the lesson was great - she showed them how to use the rule and then encouraged them to apply it themselves, which is something I would do.
