The educator in me would say to build this student’s vocabulary to a point that he can integrate better socially. Because, English Language Learners come to us with a myriad of assets, especially when it comes to the receptive language of the learner. They also come to us with sounds that go beyond the sounds in the English language. Essentially, our English Language Learners are building on to what they already know. As far as the socialization component and integration, this will become automatic as the learner grows.
