One of the more successful formative assessments I have used in the past was the exit ticket. The exit ticket was effective for me because it produced real-time results that gauged whether or not my students understood the day’s lesson. The exit ticket will usually tell if the student has a full understanding, or he or she has little knowledge of the content. This gave me a chance to differentiate the upcoming lesson(s). I like the exit ticket because they’re not long and tedious and certain skills were pinpointed. A formative assessment I would use from this module would be the thumbs up or down formative assessment. This method also is quick and effective which could be easily used to help guide instruction.
