Mod 1 Video Discussion

In our classroom, we learn through play just like in the video where the general education teacher expanded learning using the find and learn approach. We ask our students to find words written on index cards which are placed throughout the classroom and ask the student(s) to demonstrate through action, what they think the word means. Our students get excited and want to learn about new words that they may encounter. I believe student success is attributed through learning through play and the classroom environment by which the classroom is displayed and/or set up. The students in the video received positive praise and were invited into a classroom filled with meaningful and plentiful learning opportunities. One of the approaches from the video I would use, moving forward is to include a picture walk from a book and ask students to identify all of the action words (verbs). By using this approach, all students including English as Second Learners are bound to understand the concept of verbs and action words.
