Mod 19 Discussion: Taking the Lead on Literacy

I would encourage my colleagues explicitly teach academic vocabulary with visual aids as well as explicit practice to be used in all content areas.  Having the students better understand academic language will help them across the board in their understanding of lessons.  I would also highly encourage my colleagues to teach content based vocabulary weekly, choosing at least 1-2 words per lesson and content area to once again further their students' understanding of the materials.
