This student is in the beginning level of writing. I think a great practice to use would be to have writing folders for this student, as it keeps everything organized, but as the text says, they can chunk their writing while keeping everything together. I think this could be used in conjunction with the responsive writing lessons, especially the modeling portion, since reading good writing can often lead to creating good writing (as poorly written as that was.) I think the modeling and peer review steps in the structured writing lessons, especially combined with writing folders to break up the writing into smaller portions, could help push beginning writers into intermediate territory.
