I really liked the compare/contrast word map organizer because I felt that it does a great job of combining a visual representation with a student's thinking.  I think this would be great in any level classroom (I am not currently teaching so cannot apply it to a specific grade level,) but as the text said, ELL students thrive with using visual cues.  This could help anywhere from kindergarten doing some sort of comparison activity where they could draw pictures in the boxes of what they are comparing and contrasting, all the way up through fifth grade using more creative language to describe objects and how they compare to each other.
