The 10 page SIOP Guide is a comprehensive tool that outlines and specifies best ways to make content comprehension work for ELL's. Based on the 8-step sections/key components (1. Preparation, 2. Building Background, 3. Comprehensible Input, 4. Strategies, 5. Interaction, 6. Practice/Application, 7. Lesson Delivery, and 8. Review/Assessment, teachers can imbed this model to foster higher levels of success and academic achievement. The SIOP guide in each of the key components is then expanded into subset of more concrete descriptors, explanations, and hands on application. I found this tool very comprehensive and user friendly. I feel all aspects of this model and the key components support the notion of the SIOP model being useful for cross cultural teaching/practice.
