I think for students learning a second language, it can already be an area of low confidence, so when they are interacting with their peers, correcting grammar is unnecessary because as the text said, the students will learn those spoken rules by simply interacting with their peers conversationally.  Making unnecessary corrections could potentially do more harm by causing a student to refrain from sharing during class, hindering their growth in the language.  Instead, facilitating group activities where those students get to actively collaborate with their classmates can promote their awareness for self-correction by listening and absorbing how their classmates use the language.  Offering correction would only be necessary if the student's choice of words is hindering understanding.
