Picture Walks: Can allow for what ever level of language the student is ready to engage in. 

The language experience approach: It can be differentiated for ELL's by allowing the ELL to respond at their language level. Then, the teacher can choose or expand on the utterance, or when they all work to edit the story, their peers can help them expand the thought.
