New students from another country coming into my room would be made to feel welcome through initial conversations and meetings with parents and family. If I had students from similar countries, it would be good to have them seated close to each other. I would try to interact with them in their native language and encourage a basic understanding of everyday conversational language. The addition of books that reflect their 1st language would be good to add to the classroom as well.
