I think this is the same question as before? Having students working in groups, but assigned to different tasks, helps students in between the dependent and independent fields. Similarly, the students take on leadership roles themselves, complete independent work, or have assigned tasks like in literature circles. To further differentiate this, you could provide students with sentence stems and/or word banks to help them complete different activities with more independence.
