Module 5 Discussion: Language Acquisition in Content Areas

There are many activities that can be used in the classroom to reinforce morphological awareness and other linguistic skills. Some examples would be working on the academic vocabulary that will be used in the upcoming week. Having visuals for students to look at also helps, in my science class I make sure to have anchor charts that students can look back at to review material. Reading aloud as a class is a practice that I use in class. After the class read aloud students will read with a partner. At the beginning of the year I provide students with sentence stems which helps them ti formulate answers when asked a question.
