I would suggest that the parents use closed captioning when watching tv so that their students can read the words as they hear them.  They should also use some form of digital translation tool to help with learning words they may not understand, parents and students should be doing this, as children will be happy to learn the same things their parents are learning.  I would also recommend going to the library and using the vast resources they have available to the community.
