Module 1 Discussion: The Stages of Language Progression

Hi Jennifer. I went into this course with a basic understanding of how important those early years are for literacy, but the reading further impressed this on me. As a high school teacher, sometimes I get a little overwhelmed because of the significant gaps I see with my students, and I know that most of this isn't because my students lack the ability; instead, they didn't have the same opportunity for literacy development early on.
