The Nativist theory surprised me, because it says children are born with an innate language learning capacity. It even claims that grammar is included in this innate ability. I do not see how that is possible. Babies learn to speak from observation and mimicry.
Teachers should be aware of all six phases of language acquisition, so they recognize when a student is behind.
