Module 2 Discussion: Theories of Language Learning
Theories of Language
The brain-based theory of learning a new language makes the most sense to me. I think back to when I had to take a foreign language in school. Even after two years of classes, I still was barely able to communicate in that language. I try to relate that experience to my ELL students who sometimes are in the beginning “silent” stage of language acquisition. It is important that my classroom be a non-threatening and safe learning environment for my ELL students.
