There are several formative assessments I use frequently in my classroom that I noted while reading through these. The main two are think-alouds and total response signals. It's pretty intuitive for me as I'm teaching to stop and think aloud during a part of the text that can que critical thinking or confusion. The same goes for if I notice a benchmark. After the second read of a text, I always do whiteboard quizzes (total response signals) as well, and the kids love this. I use these formatives to know what to focus on during the final read.

One formative I'd like to incorporate is the "same scene twice." This sounds really fun, and I try to keep my classroom as interactive as possible. I could see it working well with my teaching style.
