Mod 9 Discussion: Oral Language Support in My Classroom

I am a big fan of Socratic questioning. It not only encourages students to self-reflect on personal values and logical reasoning, it instills an environment of respectful discourse. The method of Socratic questioning works well with established communicative functions Having set language to begin inquiry assists struggling readers to a level of comfort in both external and internal questioning. As a school librarian I am always looking for means to connect personal experiences to reading.
