This student is considered field- dependent. Field-dependent learns work well with groups and their peers. They also often interact with the teacher when working with a common goal. Implication for teachers is having the understanding and awareness on how to differentiate field-dependent versus field-independent learners. Since most students coming from other culture and learning English as second language are field-dependent learners, teachers should tailor their teaching style and address the learning needs of these students. One suggestion for placing this student in assigned tasks is by doing group work since they work well with peers and in groups. For example, when practicing a specific skill in class or pronunciation of words in English class, peer to peer review will be greatly helpful for them.
