Mod 5 Discussion: Formal and Informal Assessments

An assessment approach I use all the time is the WORD WALL.  I have a separate word wall for ech class and the students have come to actually like the format.  When we come across a word that they do not know, even if I was not intending for it to be included on the wall, they ask me to put it there.  We even get bonus points for using the words in sentences when answering questions.

One that I read that I would like to try is the FISHBOWL.  I have a mix of 6-8 graders and the wide range of conversation and ideas would be very interesting and I would love to see how the students interact with each other on an academic level.
