In my professional opinion the proper theory to use is behaviorist theory. The child already has started to pick up a few new words and phrases here and there, enough so that they’re actually willing to try and say them among their peers. I feel that small group with kids that she is comfortable with is the best way to get the student talking more. To allow for more one-on-one, praise when things are said correctly or tried to say correctly. Since she likes to listen very closely, it is very obvious that the student can pick up on things very quickly, however, lacks the confidence in saying it out loud. I feel that if we bring in hand written conversations as well as verbal conversations, the student can show comprehension in the language in a more sufficient way for her and the teacher.
