In my classroom, I continue to use the rubric form because it clearly communicates to students how they will be assessed and ties directly to the standards. I know how important it is to make expectations clear and concrete. While I really enjoyed watching the student-engaged assessment and see how it could work with  varried  students. Students love tracking their own progress. Using these tools helps students understand exactly why they earned the grade they did and gives them responsibility for their learning.

The thumbs-up/thumbs-down strategy works well for whole-group feedback and aligns nicely with the rubric I already use with my higher level students, providing a quick and engaging way to check understanding.
