Given the range of reading abilities in my class, I would implement differentiated reading groups based on student reading levels and interests. Students reading below grade level would receive targeted support with texts that are accessible but still engaging, while grade-level students could explore more challenging materials. For the bilingual beginner students, I would pair them strategically with peers who can model language, use visuals, and provide sentence frames to support comprehension and participation.

I would also implement choice-based reading time, allowing students to select from the leveled library. Because students respond well to engaging texts, this choice increases motivation and encourages independent reading habits. Using high-interest books at varied levels ensures that all students can access the material meaningfully, build vocabulary, and develop comprehension skills, while also fostering a love of reading.

Finally, I would incorporate regular guided reading and discussion sessions where students practice comprehension strategies, respond to texts, and build academic language. This approach balances individual support with social learning, scaffolding both literacy and engagement.
