Mod 14 Curriculum Selection Activity 2
Activity 2 module 14
Support for Standards- Ensuring everything lines up with the state standards and learning objectives rating on this would be a 5 as it is necessary and a "must"
Cultural Relevance- As a teacher I try and use as many texts I can that introduces multiple cultures and traditions but it is still an uneven balance amongst standards. Rating on this would be a 2 or 3.
Content support- The curriculum does a great job giving different resources to use in each lesson. I would say my rating on this is a 5 as I never run out of resources to use.
Readability and grade level applicability- The lexile levels are appropriate for elementary school but lacks of stories that interests the students. Rating on this would be a 2 for me.
Content objectives. The curriculum does a great job being clear with the learning goals and objectives for each skill. I would rate this a 5 as it leaves no confusion on what needs to be learned.
Graphic support- The curriculum has anchor charts and graphic organizers available and gives other resources we can use. The rating on this would be a 5 as well.
Visual Support- When called for the texts include multiple visuals such as pictures, captions, timelines and etc. Rating on this would be a 4.
Vocabulary- I enjoy the academic vocabulary they include in all texts allows the students to review them before getting into the reading aspect of the text. Rating is a 5.
Bias- The texts are usual neutral with different usages of cultures. Not all cultures are included but they do a good job at best. Rating 3.
Differentiating and scaffolding- Each lesson includes scaffolded activities to include in the lesson but lacks on activities to use. Rating 3-4
