Self-Assessment

A lot of these theories and ideas are pretty interesting and honestly not something I have really thought about while teaching. My first two years I sped through the topics I was teaching because I felt I needed to stick to the schedule of when state testing was but this year I have slowed down and aloud time to assess my students and make sure everyone is understanding of what we are talking about. My students have benefited as a result and we saw an increase in DPMA 1 scores for my classes and my school as a whole. Not only that but I have a lot of ELL learners this year so I have been making it a point to break words down and try to help them with different ways of teaching such as using pictures or trying to correlate it with something they are familiar with.
