Mod 5 Discussion: Formal and Informal Assessments

A formative assessment I have had success with is exit tickets. At the end of the lesson, I give time for the students to write a brief response to one or two questions or prompts about what they learned. This tool has helped me determine what students are understanding concepts, who are struggling, and those who are not engaged at all, 

The formatiove assessment I would like to try from this module is the Brick and Mortar cards. Currently my position is science, but  I think having card sets with pictures of some of the main ideas from the unit or lessons, and having the students fill in with writing, how they are related will both improve their writing skills, and their understanding of the concepts being taught in the lesson and unit.
