Scenario Response 5
Scenario 5
To meet the various needs of the students in my class, modeled, guided and repeated reading would be most beneficial for the unique needs of these students.
By providing students with explicit clear examples of fluent reading, students can see, hear and understand what fluent reading is. This continued exposure will transfer to their own reading abilities. We will discuss the qualities that make a good reader and how fluent readers have active listeners.
Repetition is a great way to establish fluency, this is true in other subjects as well. Repetition benefits readers by improving automaticity in word recognition, accuracy and reading rate. The leveled library would allow students to choose books not only for their reading level but interest level as well, students can “check out” the same book as many times as they would like. The leveled library ensures students are consistently reading and at a level that is appropriate for their individual needs.
