Reflection on Assignment 2
The experience of handling Assignment 2 during my first year of teaching brought excitement as well as nervous anticipation. I needed to carefully consider adjustments to my teaching methods that would enhance support for my English Language Learners based on my initial plans from Assignment 1. The greatest struggle involved developing real-world approaches to adjust and diversify my lessons for effective student language development and understanding. I took time to understand why each modification was necessary by reflecting heavily on the most effective and realistic approaches based on my classroom resources. I am satisfied with my plan because I discovered essential supports such as scaffolding and customized activities that will enable my students to interact with their learning material more confidently. Through this process I learned how to intentionally construct a classroom atmosphere that supports and challenges each student. The planning process highlighted how well-considered strategies benefit my ELL students while motivating me to continually improve my teaching methods throughout my early years in education.
