Reflection on Assignment 1

Being a first-year teacher made Assignment 1 planning an exhilarating yet nerve-inducing task. I needed to select appropriate standards that would effectively support my students' development and match my lesson objectives. My greatest challenge was determining how each academic standard would influence my classroom activities and assessments to accurately reflect student learning outcomes. I faced difficulties in ensuring proper alignment and in sincerely evaluating the accommodations necessary for students with diverse needs. I needed to carefully avoid assessment bias while determining necessary modifications. I am proud of my work because I successfully linked standards to my targets and planned support while considering equity in advance. The planning process has allowed me to develop more deliberate teaching strategies which I believe will enhance my educational effectiveness as I advance in my professional development.
