Mod 9 Discussion: Oral Language Support in My Classroom

I do implement structured discussions in my classroom. When my students are discussing current events, I will have them get in a group and read an article about a current event related to a standard we are learning and they answer questions like I agree/disagree with this because... This supports/violates ______ amendment because.... etc. This teaches my students to not only engage in discussion, but to use prior knowledge (or a quick Google search) to back up their claims.
