There were many great language scaffolding techniques throughout both videos. I enjoyed watching all the students so actively engaged with close reading. I will promote close reading inside my classroom. I teach 5th grade reading. Close reading strategies are techniques that help students deeply analyze and understand a text by engaging with it in a focused, thoughtful manner. The goal of close reading is to uncover meaning, explore the author's craft, and enhance comprehension. These strategies are often used to help students with complex texts, promoting critical thinking and improving reading skills. These strategies can be adapted based on the students’ language proficiency levels and the subject matter being taught. Word and Language walls and visuals are essential as well. I enjoyed watching how the teacher deconstructed sentences with her students. This can be helpful for analyzing grammar, improving writing, or learning a new language. The goal is to make learning more accessible and empower students to use language more effectively in the classroom.
