Scenario Response 3
Here are my suggested groupings:
Differentiated Grouping (Mixed Proficiency Levels): Students are grouped together with others of varying language proficiency levels, from on-grade-level to below-grade-level.
Partnering with a "Buddy" System (Mentor/Mentee Model): Pair students with higher language proficiency with those at lower levels for individual or small-group work. These pairs work together for specific tasks like reading, writing, or conversation practice.
Culturally Responsive Grouping (Leveraging Cultural Strengths): Students are grouped in a way that considers both language proficiency and cultural backgrounds. For example, students who share similar cultural experiences or speak similar languages might be grouped together for certain tasks, while also having opportunities to work in more diverse groups.
Rotating Leadership Roles within Groups: In every group, students take turns assuming leadership roles, such as facilitator, recorder, timekeeper, or presenter. These roles rotate regularly to ensure that all students have the chance to lead and contribute in different ways.
