Mod 8 Video Discussion

The video gave a lot of good ideas that I use in the classroom. Discussion among students is something that I use the most because it gives them an opportunity to voice their opinions or a text. Giving students the ability to critically think about a text or information in a text informs the teacher that the student is a. learning and b. understanding the information. Preparing a lesson and just having the student just answer questions is not ideal. So, when I prepare my lessons I make sure that I add vocabular from the text and I leave space for students to write the vocab that they had trouble with. I also make sure that the text they are reading have Q&A to go with it. I make sure that I include a discussion section so that the students know that we will discuss not jus the Q&A but also the vocabulary and the ones they choose. One thing that I liked was listening to the students us the correct ELA terms to talk about a text. It was surprising and I feel that is one thing that will try to implement in my classroom.
