Mod 2 Discussion: What the Research Means to Me

The research on ELL outcomes means several things to me.

First, it means that it is important for all teachers who might have ELLs in their classrooms need to comprehend why ESOL training is a requirement. Without understanding how our ELL students learn and acquire new language, we are unable to fully meet their educational needs.

Next, teachers must become familiar with the proven, research-based methods used for teaching ELLs.

Finally, the focus always needs to be on student needs and learning outcomes rather than on any other arbitrary metric.
