I would use the 5 recommended strategies from the reading:

1. Model fluent reading. I would include a wide variety of genres. I would ask my students “after listening to how I read, can you tell me what I did that is like what good readers do?”

2. Repeated readings, often having students echo read.

3. I would promote phrased reading by using chunked text on sentence strips.

4. Enlist tutors for help.

5. Have students take part in reader’s theater. 

Additionally, I would prepare concept maps, anticipation guides, tiered assignments, and choice boards for students’ use.
