Mod 19 Discussion: Taking the Lead on Literacy

I would recommend that my colleagues focus on academic vocabulary with their students for all of the content areas.  Pre-teaching the vocabulary would allow the students to get a better understanding of what is being taught and helps them realize what kind of instruction will be taking place.  We can also show how the vocabulary applies to the particular content area being taught, and then how that meaning connects with the every day use of the word.
