In the past, one formative assessment that has been particularly successful in my journalism class is peer editing sessions. I found that having students review and provide feedback on each other's work not only helped them improve their writing skills but also promoted collaboration and critical thinking.

Moving forward,  I'd like to try the backwards book walk strategy with news articles. Starting with visuals would allow my  students to predict content, allowing for comprehensive reading. This approach would also help me gauge their literacy gaps by comparing predictions with the actual text, offering a good way to improve their news comprehension.
