Mod 9 Discussion: Oral Language Support in My Classroom
Mod 9 Oral Language Support in My Classroom
I would use sentence starters as exit tickets. When using sentence starters all students need to literally bring what they know, to the table. Firstly, students need to feel like whatever they bring, matters. Protocols need to be in place to establish rules for speaking and delivery. Also, we need to be able to take the student out of their comfort zone and be able to give an answer when required. I would group students and put them in peer tutoring and cooperative learning groups. Each student would have sentence starter strips, and each student would contribute by completing the sentence starter. At the end of the period, the student turns in the sentence starter and I would determine who, and how many times each student contributed.
