Whole-group class discussions are a good way to foster participation among students that are field dependent by allowing them a chance to see other students interact and enter discussions without feeling threatened or too fearful to engage in the discussion.  As the student gaines more confidence through participation, they will continue to participate and become a more field independent student.

Buddies- I would use the buddy system to stimulate camaraderie to assist with the fearfulness with seams to accompany students that are unsure of their environment.

Small group instruction is currently incorporated in every subject taught in my classroom.  I use it to assist the field dependent as well as for the advancement of the field-independent learner.

Scaffolding, graphic organizers, poster displays, group activities, group presentations, individual powerpoint presentations, group plays, reader plays, and other activities which make my classroom a culturally- student centered, friendly atmosphere is specifically designed to encourage all students to become field-dependent.

Individualized one-on-one after school instruction is specifically geared to encourage the student to be confident in their response when answering questions or participating in discussions necessary to enhance the learning processes of the struggling reader.
