I believe the brain based their applies to her because she is at the beginning stage of learning a new language and her home life does not support her learning another language yet. As a teacher, I would constantly encourage the student and make sure the environment provides exposure to print rich texts. I would promote things that the student finds interesting to increase their level of engagement/communication.
